About
I’m Janice Schwarz, owner of GeekArtist Web Solutions. I have 10 years of professional web design and online marketing experience, and an e-business degree. Long before that I did tech support and discovered I had a knack for translating Geek to English for people.
It’s probably because of a deep, dark secret of mine: I was once a technophobe. That’s right, my first computer class where we used DOS, I was just sure the computer was going to catch fire if I pressed the wrong button. I really wanted nothing to do with computers or most other technology!
This blog exists to help you
- learn to get the most out of your site
- understand the web design process (still important when hiring another to make your site)
- understand how to hire tech people
- learn more about online business
- find productivity tips
- dispel myths
- update GeekArtist Web Solutions clients of the latest business news
- knock out the hype
- and have fun doing it!
A lot of people say “I feel stupid about not knowing this stuff”. Think of it this way: do you feel stupid when you take your car to the mechanic or go to the doctor? No? This really is no different.
This site exists to enhance your knowledge, but remember, you don’t have to know it all if you’re not the one making the website! And if you are learning web design, hey we all feel dumb along the way. Years of experience won’t always change that; the most experienced web designers will find new challenges that leave them stumped for a while. We get better at our craft, but this means we also find increasingly complex problems to solve. Web design is an ongoing educational experience.
